I would say start with theater or a supporting role on a TV show, the only other way is to star in a movie, which since it’s the biggest job an actor would have, would be the hardest to get.
Check and see what local opportunities for acting are near you!
Remember to stay involved with the theater… then check for listings in you paper for audition notices, or the web. If you hear of a movie in its early stage, search for information on where auditions are. More than likely, you will start of with small roles, but as your resume grows, that may change.
Best of luck!
I would say to get involved with playhouses in your area. Or if you go to school you can audition for plays there. I would also suggest taking some classes. Even if it is a natural talent, there is no harm in learning all that you can if you really love it. Also, taking a dance and singing class wouldn’t hurt, especially if you want to do musicals or something of the sort. Plus, it just gives you a larger perpective on what you can do with your body movements and voice for different characters. A voice (voice for the stage, that is… Not singing) classes can be useful, as well. Be an extra in a film. You can see how things operate a bit more, thus learning a little about the movie industry.
If you have done all of these already, take some professional headshots. Start looking in magazines, newspapers, and keep an open ear. You should also go through acting agencies to try to get movie roles.
Most of all just keep on trying, and take in all criticisms constructively. This will help you become better at acting. Also, there will be a lot of criticisms thrown at you and you need to not take it personally. If you do let it get to you, you will never make it. Don’t let anyone knock you down. Stay confident and be sure everyone can see your confidence. Don’t seem over-confident, however, as it will put people off. And lastly, do it for the sake of the love of acting, and never money. Life as an actor can be hard financially, but if you truly love it, you won’t be miserable.
Make a Resume, Opening Letter, and get a headshot.
Pursue local agents (in the biggest city around you. ie: miami, NY, LA.)
TAKE IT SLOW!!
don’t rush it, its a very hard business.
But, be sure your prepared.
People will critique your every move and your body, looks, etc.
